Amazon brexit selling guide (pdf)
| This looks to be fun for all the small businesses currently selling EU wide via Amazon. All you need to do is
1. Register for VAT in every EU state. Remembering that some states require you to have a local representative and a bank deposit. Amazon will do some of it for you at £400 a year but only in selected states.
2. Manage all cross border fulfilment yourself. No more fulfilled by Amazon.
3. Register for EORI and get yourself a customs agent (or at least they recommend an agent)
4. Find customs commodity codes on everything you sell
I can't see this being worth it for the smaller sellers, particularly since our delivery times will now be worse unless they maintain both UK and EU stock.

| Yesterday in the House, I confronted Liz Truss with her own Department’s report on the question she’s repeatedly refused to answer: what’s the difference, in pounds and pence, between her Japan deal and the EU-Japan deal it replaces? She didn’t look happy.
| |
| ...that in the final assessment produced last month by the Department of the long-term impact of the UK-Japan deal, the forecast increase in UK exports to Japan was £2.6 billion, and the forecast increase in UK GDP was £1.5 billion.
Let us compare those figures with the Department’s assessment of the long-term impact of the EU-Japan deal. Under that assessment, the forecast increase in UK exports to Japan was not £2.6 billion but £4.3 billion, and the forecast increase in UK GDP was not £1.5 billion but £2.6 billion.
I do not know about you, Madam Deputy Speaker, but that does not sound like further and faster, above and beyond, additional or higher to me. It sounds like smaller, slower, lower and lamer.

I want to begin by congratulating my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State and her incredible team of Ministers, our fabulous negotiating team, our Japan team at DIT and our team in Tokyo, led by ambassador Paul Madden, who have all contributed enormously to the success of this negotiation. I want briefly to explain why I think this deal is important in the global trade environment, what it says about Japan’s outlook and the UK’s outlook and why it matters for CPTPP.

Britain's final Brexit choice could prolong the worst recession in 300 years >
| The UK economy is suffering its worst recession in more than 300 years and failing to secure a new trade deal with the European Union will make its recovery even longer and more arduous, according to the country's independent fiscal watchdog.
The Office for Budget Responsibility said on Wednesday that a no-deal Brexit would reduce output by 2% next year and leave the UK economy 1.5% smaller after five years compared to a scenario where Prime Minister Boris Johnson strikes an agreement with Brussels.
...
The Office for Budget Responsibility expects GDP to decline by 11.3% this year, the biggest drop in annual output since the Great Frost of 1709, Europe's coldest winter in 500 years that caused widespread death and destruction to agriculture.
And even with a Brexit deal, the watchdog said the economy is likely to experience permanent "scarring" that will reduce output by 3% under its central scenario in which coronavirus restrictions are kept in place until the spring.
BBC Radio 4: How Broke is Britain?
| What Brexit will also likely do is hit the bits of the economy that haven't been hit by the Covid crisis. So we talked earlier on about how the Covid crisis is hitting recreational hotels and leisure industries. But actually Brexit will also tend to impact on manufacturing, finance and IT, so the bits that haven't been hit.
So what you then got are two separate shocks, almays effecting broadly the whole of the sectors of the economy. And that is likely to be a similar order of magnitude in terms of the long-run impact on the economy as the Covid crisis.
London ‘Thrown to the Lions’ as Brexit Finance Deal Unlikely >
| The golden age of the City of London began with a big bang. It’s ending with a whimper.
Fears that the finance powerhouse that emerged from Margaret Thatcher’s 1986 deregulation -- known as the Big Bang -- will gradually be dismantled have deepened with a recent flurry of announcements about some business heading to the European Union as Britain enters the last month of the Brexit transition period without a financial-services deal in sight.
