I'm calling on Congress to pass legislation immediately to adopt the Tentative Agreement between railroad workers and operators.
Let me be clear: a rail shutdown would devastate our economy. Without freight rail, many U.S. industries would shut down.
As a proud pro-labor President, I'm reluctant to override the ratification procedures and views of those who voted against the agreement.
But in this case where the economic impact of a shutdown would hurt millions I believe Congress must use its powers to adopt this deal.
No one should have to choose between their job and their health or the health of their children. I have pressed legislation and proposals to advance the cause of paid leave in my two years in office, and will continue to do so.
At this critical moment for our economy, in the holiday season, we cannot hurl the U.S. into a devastating rail freight shutdown.
Congress should get this bill to my desk as soon as possible so we can avoid disruption.

|
A More Perfect Union analysis of financial filings of major U.S. railroads found that their windfall profits have come at the direct expense of their workforce. In the past two decades, operating profit margins nearly tripled for the major carriers, while the percentage of revenue they spent on labor sunk by double-digits.
Tens of thousands of American rail workers have gone three years without a raise amid a contract dispute with the major carriers. The industry has rejected their calls for sick leave, guaranteed time-off, and a range of other improvements, even as their profit margins swelled.
In 2001, leading American freight carriers CSX, KC Southern, Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific earned average operating margins of about 15%. That means that after accounting for all the costs associated with running a railroad (including money spent on compensation & benefits), for every $100 of revenue, investors were left with $15 of profit. Twenty years later that number has skyrocketed to over $41.
During that same time period, the percentage of revenue spent on labor saw a sudden and drastic decline. In 2001, the four railroads spent about $8.7 billion on compensation and benefits to generate $25.6 billion. In 2021 the companies spent 10% more on labor but brought in nearly double the amount of revenue. Its insane to think about, said Matt Reustle, a popular investing commentator and former transportation analyst, earlier this year.
Technology and more efficient diesel engines have made the rail industry more efficient, but the reduction in headcount has an outsized impact on operating profit margins. According to the Presidential Emergency Board, which analyzed the dispute, the Carriers maintain that capital investment and risk are the reasons for their profits, not any contributions by labor. As the graph below demonstrates, theres a clear inverse relationship between a companys profit margin relative to the amount it spends on labor.

| Oath Keepers leaders found guilty of seditious conspiracy for role in US Capitol attack | |
| The two defendants convicted of seditious conspiracy — Stewart Rhodes and Kelly Meggs — face a 20-year maximum prison sentence on that charge.
They, along with the other three defendants — Kenneth Harrelson, Jessica Watkins and Thomas Caldwell – were convicted of obstructing an official proceeding, which also carries a 20-year maximum sentence.
The defendants were convicted of multiple charges, and the judge could issue a sentence that exceeds 20 years. Conversely, the judge could decide to sentence defendants to far less than the maximum allowed.
Sentencing hearings typically happen 90 days after a verdict is reached.

Hier wäre die Frage, was man betonen will. Aber eine Auflistung von Beleidigungen sind "Wörter", genauso wie "Eigenschaftswörter" korrekt ist, "Eigenschaftsworte" hingegen falsch.

Ah, hier wird's erklärt:
| We have no sick leave on the BNSF. Every time we ‘call in sick’ we lose what are called “points” (part of a new attendance policy they enacted in February of this year)
You start out at 30 points, and a single layoff can cost as much as 10 if that day happens to be what they call a High Impact Day. They aren’t always holidays either, for example Super Bowl Sunday is worth the same amount of points as Christmas.
You gain points back by working continuously without taking time off. 14 days in a row will earn you 4 points. So if you were to take Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off (10 points each), it would take you 2-3 months of 0 days off to regain those points again.
