“Lacking the strength and courage to stand up to us on the battlefield, they are cynically destroying the civilian population,” he said. “This is an evil that has no limits. And if it is not punished, it will never stop.”
Earlier, Mr. Kyrylenko shared a jarring photo that showed a number of dead and potentially wounded people lying on the ground, with blood visible, surrounded by luggage and some debris. Scholz hat seine Zusagen schon wieder einkassiert
| | Von einer Erhöhung des Etats auf zwei Prozent des BIP zur Finanzierung des laufenden Betriebs ist bereits keine Rede mehr. In den Haushaltsentwürfen für 2022 und die Folgejahre, die das Kabinett und der Bundestag im März berieten, ist die Erhöhung des Verteidigungsbudgets auf „mehr als zwei Prozent“ nicht zu finden.
Verteidigungsexperten der Union bestätigen diese Fakten und bewerten das Rückrudern des Kanzlers und seiner Koalitionspartner im Gespräch unter vier Augen als skandalös. Manche bezeichnen vor allem die FDP des Finanzministers Christian Lindner als „eine herbe Enttäuschung“.
Fachleute der Ampel sprechen neuerdings von einem „Missverständnis“. Scholz habe nicht ein Sondervermögen plus die Erhöhung des Verteidigungsbudgets angekündigt. Sondern das Sondervermögen bedeute die Erhöhung des Etats von gut 50 auf über 70 Milliarden Euro und damit auf mehr als zwei Prozent vom BIP. Auf dieses Ergebnis komme man, wenn man die 100 Milliarden Euro Sondervermögen auf die laufenden Etats von vier bis fünf Jahre verteile. | |

Allerdings war das schon seit der Vorlage der Haushaltsentwürfe vor ein paar Wochen klar. Nun wird es äußerst schwierig da die Zustimmung der Union zu bekommen - zu Recht nach der Ankündigung der "Zeitenwende". Das wird ein fetter Rohrkrepierer.

Even during Desert Storm after the Cold War, there could be ways of deceiving an opponent, hiding build-ups, etc. Those days seem to be gone. You cant hide a long-logistical column from eyes in the sky--and that means no suprise assaults from the Russians (or anyone else probably). Not only will there be no surprises, the Ukrainians should have a pretty accurate idea of what is heading for them. They can prepare.

So the Russian buildup for the Donbas operation, as prophesied a while back, is not proving easy. The Institute for the Study of War now agrees, and wondering if it might take months for the Russians to build up the appropriate force to assault the Donbas. ...

Quick summation. Russia might have somewhere between 30k -35k soldiers in Donbas. They can attack from the air, but dont have air control. Not clear what the logistics situation is in the region, but there are issues and its likely these units are below strength. ...
So Russia can attack with upwards of 40 BTGs, imho, not enough to take and hold the whole Donbas. They still need significant reinforcement. Of course they are also stuck in a bit of a dilemma.
The 30 Russians BTGs that have been in the Donbas since the start cant stay forever and will suffer increasing attrition if they wait longer for more reinforcement. Bit of a damned if they do, damned if they dont. | |

Ukrainian infantry and anti-armor crews have a field day with exposed armor, moving through terrain that they know well.
This detail is shared because it encapsulates a belief shared by many Ukrainian military personnel: the Kremlin simply has no plan to achieve victory – Moscow’s leaders are out of ideas, except a war of grinding attrition.
Endless slaughter.
The marines I met are exhausted. But they’ll never stop fighting.
The Kremlin’s leaders will march their soldiers to their deaths with a seemingly unending appetite for destruction.

Und wenn Russland versuchen sollte, dafür Truppen zusammen zu ziehen, wird das wohl an Satelliten scheitern: Sobald da was bemerkt wird, wird irgendwer das Finnland sagen, schließlich sind sie schon assoziiert oder so. Und dann wird Finnland plötzlich sehr schnell werden mit dem Beitrittsgesuch.
Aber man könnte argumentieren, dass Ostfinnland bereits besetzt ist…
