The AFU liberated Borova♥️, Shyikivka, Izyums'ke and Druzhelyubivka.
Borova makes me especially happy since I've been reading their telegram feed since early May.

I have seen a lot of evidence of a AFU advance down to the Dudchany area. I find the reports believable.
Things are starting to look "not great" for the RuAF in the northern parts of the Kherson region.
It seems like we once again have seen the Russian version of controlled retreat.

They envelop a town trying to force a retreat. Every time RU retreats they loose equipment and personnel.
By keeping the Russians moving, they keep having to take position at unprepared locations. Lyman was the first major positions after the AFU crossed the Oskil river, RuAF had about a week or so to prepare defenses here before the AFU caught up.
We can already see the next envelopment in progress, and I expect we will see a similar situation as in Lyman where the AFU try to push around.
There has been rumors about AFU attempts to advance south of the SD river, and I believe these are part of that plan.
I think this is the next step. The Eastern AFU grouping will advance to the north of Kreminna and turn south east. This will force RuAF to retreat from Kreminna.
I think the Borova grouping will turn east while the Kupyansk group keep advancing to the south east to expand and connect the two bridge heads.
At this point I would expect attempts to envelop Svatove.

What precedent is set now matters A VERY GREAT DEAL.
I don't take nuclear weapons lightly. They are infernal machines that have the power to end civilization (from the northern hemisphere at least).
But if the precedent coming out from this war is that imperial conquests can be defended with nuclear threats, what happens?
Not only will Russia try again once it rearms and learns the lessons from its humiliation.
Every tinpot dictator with delusions of grandeur will seek nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction - such as biological weapons.
As will many of their neighbors.
The correlation of forces today is exceptionally favorable for democracies. Ukraine will win this war if we just supply enough weapons and other aid. We don't even need to send soldiers.
This is the best time to draw a line and set the precedent.
Of course, this is ultimately for Ukrainians to decide. If they want to negotiate, we should help them to obtain the best possible deal.
But if they want to keep going and take the risk of even nuclear attack, it would be in our interests to enable them to do so.
Those who say we should now hamstring Ukraine and let Putin "save face" don't, in my opinion, understand how these things work, or how Putin and the Kremlin works.
They've already lost face. But they control the narrative and can spin almost anything into a "victory".
As long as Putin believes he could snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat by prying the jaws open with nuclear weapons, he may well be tempted to do so.
But the sooner Ukraine demolishes the Russian army's capability to fight, the sooner the jaws snap shut.
Putin can certainly destroy Ukraine, even out of pure spite, with nuclear weapons.
But he wouldn't be able to achieve his war goals and occupy even parts of Ukraine, if he doesn't have the army needed. Very soon he won't. Armies collapse slowly at first, and then suddenly.
As I've argued earlier, nuclear weapons alone cannot now alter the military balance, unless they are used en masse. One, some, or even a dozen weapons are not going to be enough. Reversing the war would require something like a hundred or more weapons.
And merely bombing civilians has rarely (if ever) been enough to win wars. Even Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not "the" reasons World War 2 ended, as I argue in more detail here.
Nor did the decimation of Mariupol collapse the Ukrainian will to fight.
As it shouldn't. Surrendering to a genocidal fascist and his barely disciplined hordes would be a catastrophe. As those with experience from Russian and Soviet conquest know better than the westplaining pundits in Berlin, Paris, London, or Washington.
So. As long as Ukrainians want to fight and want more weapons, we should give them what they want.
Hold fast. This is a test of all democracies and all freedom-loving peoples against all autocracies and all imperialism, today and in the future.

Orbán has already signaled his reluctance this summer, when he said that Hungary pays special attention to Turkey's reservations.
Orbán is close to Erdogan, so that's an explanation. However, he seems to be close to Putin too - and that's another one.
The treaties of the 🇫🇮🇸🇪 accession have been submitted to the Hungarian parliament on July 14 already. Orbán's MPs could have passed them in the summer as there was even an extraordinary session. However, the bills didn't even advance to a pre-plenary vote, committee level.
Orbán's parliamentary supermajority didn't even put the NATO enlargement bills on the required parliamentary committees' agendas for September and October, another clear sign that they don't want to pass them anytime soon.
One opposition MP from the liberal Momentum party raised the issue in parliament last week. Then another one from the progressive Democratic Coalition party submitted a draft resolution calling on the parliament to vote on the NATO enlargement immediately.
Nothing happened.
Today, the Hungarian Socialist Party tried to amend the parliament's agenda by proposing to hold a vote on the 🇫🇮🇸🇪 NATO accession tomorrow. When house speaker László Kövér refused, the Socialists appealed, forcing a plenary vote. Orbán's Fidesz majority voted it down 117-39.
While some Fidesz officials, the army's chief of staff & the Hungarian president made everyone believe that Hungary would surely ratify the NATO enlargement, Orbán himself never promised it. Now his MPs were outted & it became clear the enlargement isn't yet approved by Orbán.
"Shame!", Socialist party chairman Bertalan Tóth commented after his proposal was rejected by Orbán's MPs.
He points out that even current and former state secretaries of the Ministry of Defense voted against confirming 🇫🇮🇸🇪 NATO membership tomorrow.

Oddly enough, given how much Musk is doing to aid Ukraine with his Starlink satellite terminals, his half-baked tweet shows the insidious influence of Russian propaganda. Was it, indeed, a mistake for Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev to transfer Crimea, once a part of the Russian Empire, to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1954? That’s certainly what Russian dictator Vladimir Putin thinks, but even in 1991, a majority of Crimeans voted to be part of an independent Ukraine. Admittedly, support for independence was much lower in Crimea (54 percent) than in the rest of the country because of the large number of ethnic Russians, but that referendum had infinitely more legitimacy than the sham vote that Putin staged in 2014 to justify his annexation of Crimea.

Die kombinierte taktische Bataillonsgruppe der 128 OgshbR und das Bataillon der 17 SSU-Brigade setzten am Abend des 3. Oktober die Offensive gegen Dudchany fort. Mehr als 35 Panzer, etwa 15 BMPs und 12 gepanzerte Kozak-Fahrzeuge waren an der Erstürmung der russischen Stellungen beteiligt.
In den langwierigen Kämpfen trafen die russischen Luftlandetruppen, unterstützt von Flugzeugen und Artillerie, mehr als ein Dutzend Fahrzeuge.
Dem ukrainischen Kommando gelang es jedoch dank seiner zahlenmäßigen Überlegenheit, die Verteidigungslinien im Dorf Dudchany zu durchbrechen und im nördlichen Teil der Siedlung Fuß zu fassen. Die russischen Einheiten zogen sich aus ihren Stellungen zurück und sprengten die Brücke über den Stausee.
Über Nacht begannen die ukrainischen Verbände, sich an der Linie Nowodmitrowka-Tscherwonoje-Dudtschany zu verschanzen. Starlink-Satellitenkommunikationssysteme werden an vorgeschobenen Kontrollpunkten eingesetzt.
Am Morgen des 4. Oktober will das ukrainische Kommando die Offensive in Richtung Mylivoye fortsetzen. Nach mehreren gescheiterten Versuchen, die russischen Stellungen in Davydov Brod frontal zu stürmen, ging das ukrainische Kommando dazu über, die Verteidigungsanlagen der russischen Streitkräfte nacheinander zu sondieren.
In der Nacht vom 3. auf den 4. Oktober starteten kombinierte Abteilungen der 46. OAEMB zusammen mit zwei Kompanien der 28. und 57. Abteilungen und Angriffsabteilungen der 35. Abteilungen eine Offensive auf Davydov Brod von Belogorki und den Linien zwei Kilometer südlich von Davydov Brod aus.
Die ukrainischen Einheiten wurden durch Artillerie und MLRS aus den Außenbezirken von Bila Krynitsa unterstützt. Die Zielerfassung erfolgte durch UAVs der 28. Brigade. Mobile, tragbare Flugabwehrsysteme und AN/MPQ-64-Radare schützten die Gruppe vor Luftangriffen.
Mehrere Stunden lang beschossen die russischen Streitkräfte die Angriffsgebiete der ukrainischen Streitkräfte. Über 24 Mitglieder der AFU wurden getötet und mindestens vier Ausrüstungsgegenstände zerstört. Aufgrund der Verluste, die die AFU erlitten hatte, wurde der Angriff eingestellt.
In der Nacht zum 4. Oktober schlug die Rohr- und Raketenartillerie der russischen Streitkräfte zudem massiv auf mehr als 12 AFU-Einrichtungen, darunter Kommandoposten und Personalstandorte, im Dorf Beresnewatoe und auf dem gleichnamigen Bahnhof im Süden ein.
Die ukrainischen Kommandeure stellen nun die Kampfbereitschaft wieder her, indem sie zusätzliche Einheiten der 35. Die wiederhergestellten Übergänge über den Ingulets-Fluss werden für die Evakuierung von Gefallenen und Verwundeten sowie für den Transport von Ausrüstung und Treibstoff zum Abschnitt Andreevsky genutzt.
Die ukrainischen Kommandeure werden in den kommenden Stunden die russischen Stellungen in Davydove Brod weiter stürmen. Wenn die ukrainischen Streitkräfte in diesem Gebiet erfolgreich sind, werden sie wahrscheinlich in Richtung Charivne vorrücken, um die Gruppierung der russischen Streitkräfte am rechten Ufer des Dnjepr abzuschneiden. | |

Es ist ok von den Kriegsparteien nicht belegte Behauptungen gleichermaßen zu verteilen.
Entscheidender ist, dass sich die westlichen Parteien mit Zuweisungen zurückhalten, weil hier das Ideal der Beweisbarkeit entscheidend sein sollte.

Die russischen Streitkräfte haben sich im Nordosten der Region Cherson neu formiert. Aufgrund eines Durchbruchs der ukrainischen Streitkräfte im Raum Beryslav und der drohenden physischen Umzingelung der russischen Gruppierung bei den Dörfern Dudchany und Davydov Brod wurde beschlossen, das Kontingent der russischen Streitkräfte auf eine neue Verteidigungslinie zurückzuziehen.
Neben Brod verließen russische Einheiten Bolshaya und Malaya Aleksandrovka, Staroselie, Trifonovka, Novaya Kamenka, Olgino und Arkhangelskoye.
Es ist noch nicht klar, wie die neue Kontaktlinie verlaufen wird. Wir gehen davon aus, dass die russischen Streitkräfte bis auf weiteres an der Strecke Kostromka - Borozenskoje - Mylowoje positioniert werden. Auf diese Weise kann die Entstehung eines "Hexenkessels" vermieden und die Frontlinie ausgerichtet werden.
Unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Unmöglichkeit, die Verteidigung in Krivoy Rog zu halten, ist dies die einzige akzeptable Option, um Personal und Ausrüstung zu retten.
Bleiben jedoch Vergeltungsmaßnahmen und Gegenoffensiven in naher Zukunft aus, droht eine weitere Offensive der AFU auf Beryslaw und Nowaja Kachowka sowie auf Cherson von den Abschnitten Posad-Pokrowski und Snigirewski aus. Darüber hinaus stellt die Kontrolle der AFU über das Dnjepr-Ufer eine direkte Bedrohung für das russische Kontingent auf dem linken Dnjepr-Ufer dar.
Die ukrainischen Einheiten werden in der Lage sein, eine Landungsoperation mit kleinen Booten und Barkassen durchzuführen, über die sie in Hülle und Fülle verfügen, sofern es keinen Widerstand gibt. Und dies ist bereits ein Schlag gegen die Flanke der russischen Streitkräfte in der Oblast Saporischschja und den direkten Zugang zu Melitopol. | |

Der Mann ganz am Anfang wirkte irgendwie ein bisschen, als ob er Angst hätte zu sagen was er wirklich denkt.
Allgemein ist es erschreckend, wie Krass Propaganda wirken kann, wenn man ihr dauerhaft ausgesetzt ist.
Es sieht da aus wie Wanne-Eickel Ost, die Leute werden auch nicht blöder oder schlauer sein als die hier. Das ist schon ein beeindruckender und verstörender Erfolg von Falschinformation.
