Elon Musk loves to make jokes on Twitter, but Im starting to wonder whether hes ever made an original joke in his life. Because anytime you see a joke or a meme from the billionaire owner of the social media platform, its almost always stolen from his fans without credit.
| |
|
For example, Musks rampant meme theft might point to how Musk became such a divisive media personality over the past year. Its one thing to become rich, lots of people do that. But Musk seems to want to take all the credit for the success of companies like Tesla and SpaceX, leaving other important figures in the history of his companies out of the headlines. And Musk reportedly will not tolerate dissent to the official narrative.
Musk likes to call himself a founder of the electric car company Tesla, but thats not accurate. Musk was an early investor in Tesla and squeezed the founders out. The real founders, Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, sat down with CNBC in 2019 to talk about getting pushed out of their own company. As CNBC explains, Musk was the companys fourth CEO when he took that position in October of 2008.
Musk was even asked once about whether he creates his own memes on social media and the billionaires response wasnt terribly confident.
You create you own memes though, dont you? a host from the YouTube channel Tesla Owners Silicon Valley asked in an interview published to YouTube in June 2022.
Uh, some... I create some memes, um... Musk said unconvincingly.
Your meme game is strong, the host responded.
Thank you, Musk replied.
If you have evidence that Musk has ever created his own meme, let alone his own joke, on Twitter, please pass it along. Because practically every attempt by Musk at being funny seems to have existed already on social media.

| Over 120,000 views of a video showing a boy being sexually assaulted. A recommendation engine suggesting that a user follow content related to exploited children. Users continually posting abusive material, delays in taking it down when it is detected and friction with organizations that police it.
All since Elon Musk declared that “removing child exploitation is priority #1” in a tweet in late November.
Under Mr. Musk’s ownership, Twitter’s head of safety, Ella Irwin, said she had been moving rapidly to combat child sexual abuse material, which was prevalent on the site — as it is on most tech platforms — under the previous owners. “Twitter 2.0” will be different, the company promised.
But a review by The New York Times found that the imagery, commonly known as child pornography, persisted on the platform, including widely circulated material that the authorities consider the easiest to detect and eliminate.
After Mr. Musk took the reins in late October, Twitter largely eliminated or lost staff experienced with the problem and failed to prevent the spread of abusive images previously identified by the authorities, the review shows. Twitter also stopped paying for some detection software considered key to its efforts.
All the while, people on dark-web forums discuss how Twitter remains a platform where they can easily find the material while avoiding detection, according to transcripts of those forums from an anti-abuse group that monitors them.

Leaked Elon Musk email reveals why Twitter told users they were ‘over the daily limit’ and blocked them from posting
| Twitter users across the U.S. and Canada on Wednesday were unable to send messages and received an error message informing them that they were “over the daily limit for sending tweets.” Roughly 30 minutes later, users were able to send tweets again but are still unable to send direct messages and follow other users.
“Please pause for now on new feature development in favor of maximizing system stability and robustness, especially with the Super Bowl coming up,” Musk wrote in an email to staff around the time of the outage and viewed by Fortune. In a follow-up email, Musk wrote, Twitter “should also pause on transitioning away from Sacramento, consolidating Atlanta,” which are data centers Twitter uses, “and reducing [Google Cloud Platform] usage until at least next week.”
The messages appear to be part of a widespread outage at the social media platform amid deep cost-cutting and tumultuous management under Musk, who acquired the company in November.
...
A Twitter employee told Fortune that the engineering Slack channels were “going crazy” and the teams were floating various ideas around as to why this error occurred, from changes to the free API feature, which allows outside developers to access Twitter data, to a data center outage.

Elon Musk’s cost cutting at Twitter reaches the next level after layoffs and stiffing landlords. Now he wants to dump pricey software used by his employees
| The extent of Musk’s penny-pinching has been closely followed in the media. And on Twitter, it has raised many eyebrows. Musk stopped paying rent on Twitter’s offices, leading to lawsuits. He stiffed vendors including for private jet flights taken by executives who previously worked for Twitter, leading to yet more litigation. And he started auctioning off Twitter’s office furniture now that there are so few employees left.
The latest on the chopping block is pricey software from Salesforce that Twitter employees use for tracking issues involving users and with the service itself, according to a screenshot of a Slack message viewed by Fortune. Twitter had planned to jettison the software, and the monthly payments that come with it, at the end of 2022, but amid employee pushback, the company delayed the plan by six months, according to a source at Twitter.
The employee told Fortune that there was no final word on replacing the Salesforce software, and it would be “silly if they aren’t prepared with a new system to take its place.” One option being discussed is using Jira, a cheaper ticket and project management service developed by Atlassian.

1. Er hat an dem Abend "Das Leben der ANderen" gesehen
2. Es gab letzte Tage eine Anhörung bzgl Twitter Files vor dem Kongrees
| On Wednesday, Musk’s “Twitter Files” took center stage in a combative Capitol Hill hearing, as GOP leaders attempted to turn Twitter’s decision to briefly block sharing a New York Post story about President Biden’s son into evidence of a broad conspiracy. Conservatives have long argued that Silicon Valley favors Democrats by systematically suppressing right-wing viewpoints on social media. These allegations have evolved in nearly a half-decade of warnings, as politicians in Washington and beyond fixate on the industry’s communications with the FBI and Democratic leaders, seeking to cast the opposing party as against free speech.
“Twitter … was a private company that the federal government used to do what it cannot: limit the constitutional free exercise of speech,” said House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, flanked by a poster displaying the New York Post story. He added that the committee now knows all of this “because of Elon Musk,” joining a chorus of Republicans praising the mercurial billionaire throughout the hearing. | |
