Ich interessiere mich eigentlich nicht sehr für Sport, hiervon habe ich mir aber beide Teile gegeben. Wie der Titel schon sagt, es geht um Sportler Namens Bob. Spannend erzählt und mit Diagrammen usw. bebildert.

| | This is remarkable time-lapse video of actual images of planets orbiting a star that is 133 light years distant. It is not an on-edge system.
It is an on-top view of planets in motion made over a 12 year time span. The mighty Keck Observatory atop Mauna Kea, HI, did the deed, resolving four planets. The outermost one takes over 500 Earth years to complete an orbit, and the inner-most one 45 Earth years.
The innermost clutter is the lens flare that leaked around the instrument's device to block the blinding light of the star. For most of my life, astronomy books said that no telescopes were powerful enough to resolve the disk of a star, only a pinpoint of light, and here we are capturing planets in orbit.
Although these are all gas giant planets, one is compelled to ask if there are planets out there with intelligent beings gazing into the sky and wondering. | |

Ja, den schaue ich mir auch gerne an. Hab mir dann auch The Universal Cook gekauft, weil ich die Rezepte und Formulierungen interessant finde

Es ist wunderschön. Zum einen viel Lustig weil direkt in der ersten Einstellung der Versuch den Kameramann zu verstecken so missglückt ist, dass er umso mehr raussticht und der Typ neben der Moderatorin für heutige Verhältnisse hoffnungslos überfordert ist normal in die Kamera zu gucken. Auf der anderen Seite überrascht mich der journalistische Biss von vor inzwischen 44 Jahren doch sehr. Bin erst 5 Minuten drin. Aber das geb ich mir jetzt in Gänze.

Sparrows worldwide are natural predators of many insects, including crop-damaging locusts. Locusts didn’t make Mao Zedong’s pest list since the sparrows consumed them along with the grain, controlling the insect population. Removing sparrows as the predator in its ecosystem would soon prove devastating for China.

By 1960, locusts overtook rice crops, limiting the food supply and initiating a famine for the Chinese. The intricate ecosystem of China had been broken, and the consequences were far-reaching for the world’s most populous country.
The People’s Republic of China had to import 250,000 sparrows from the Soviet Union to stop the ecological disruption. After successfully importing sparrows back into the ecosystem, the sparrows were able to keep locus populations from devastating crops.
